Beaches & Coastlines

The waters of Western Port are full of surprises. It has extensive shallow areas but with deep channels running through. There are a number of islands - the largest being French Island that is only accessible by ferry. The southern end of the bay offers sandy surf beaches that look towards Phillip Island. Try Point Leo, one of the Mornington Peninsula's famous surf beaches providing excellent waves for beginners and experienced surfers. It is also a prime spot for leisure and fishing.

Mornington Peninsula National Park

An enticing slice of coastal wilderness on the far western rim of the peninsula, Mornington Peninsula National Park encompasses almost all the wild, windswept ocean beaches. You can explore much of the park's coastal areas on clifftop hiking trails. Cranbourne Gardens

Westernport Marina

Westernport Marina is perfectly located for those who love their fishing, cruising and sailing but do not want to negotiate the Heads to get out of Port Phillip Bay and into open water. The fishing in this area is unbelievably plentiful with snapper, whiting and gummy shark the main catch but also salmon, elephant fish, flathead, mulloway and calamari among the varieties often caught.
